Happy Constitution Day of Ukraine! 🇺🇦✨

30 years ago, on June 28, 1996, after years of preparation and legendary, fierce debates in the Parliament (with the final voting session lasting for over 24 hours straight!), our country adopted its supreme law — the Constitution. 📜

The Constitution of Ukraine established the fundamental rights that form the very core of our worldview, freedom, and European future:

🔹 The Right to Life: Every individual has an inalienable right to life, and it is the state's duty to protect it. Everyone has the right to defend their own life and health, as well as the lives and health of others, from unlawful violations.
🔹 Respect for Dignity: Everyone has the right to respect for their dignity. No one shall be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.

Today, Ukraine continues to fight a fierce war against the aggressor. This is a battle for the very existence of our state, for its people, and to ensure that these constitutional rights and freedoms remain a living reality for every Ukrainian. 🇺🇦💪

This weekend at Stand for U was marked by major logistics.
Clothing, generators, footwear, hygiene products, pet food, toys, crutches, sleeping bags, mats, and candles. All this is absolutely essential for people being evacuated from the front line and is already on its way to Ukraine:
📦 160 kg departed on Saturday, and another 2.2 tons left on Sunday with our incredible volunteer, Charles.

🔥 And the highlight figure of this weekend: the total weight of humanitarian aid sent by Stand for U to date has officially surpassed 90 tons!

What do 1,100,000 liters of clean water look like? 💧

At first glance, it is just a few boxes loaded into a car. But inside lies a critical component for Ukrainian cities affected by the war — 125,000 water purification tablets.

As the warm weather arrives, access to safe drinking water in front-line areas becomes a matter of survival. One tiny tablet can purify an entire bucket of water, protecting families from dangerous waterborne diseases.

Thanks to our fantastic donors, we were able to fund this vital shipment. Today, these boxes represent a lifeline for over 3,000 Ukrainian families. Each of these boxes bears a tiny label: "Sent with love from the community of Brighton and Hove". Together, we are making a real difference to lives in Ukraine. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

This week, we celebrate International Vyshyvanka Day — a time when we honor our heritage and share our love for our culture with the world. 🧵✨

It is the perfect moment to share great photos and the incredible results of our "Etno Echo" event, which opened its doors on May 2nd at the Brighton Unitarian. It was a beautiful, intimate gathering that allowed us to closely share the living, sensory world of Ukrainian culture. Local British and international guests (we welcomed people from Norway, Lithuania, Slovakia, Turkey, and Ghana, to name just a few) listened to music, explored the exhibition, asked about our heritage, tasted fantastic homemade food, and took a piece of Ukraine home in their hearts.

This event was brought to life by a fiercely dedicated team of volunteers and enthusiasts. We are deeply grateful to everyone who shared their treasures and stories with the public, showcased their arts and crafts, led workshops, cooked, arranged, organised, and delivered everything needed.

Special thanks to our performers—@culbabatheatre (the "Culbaba" Song Theatre), Nastya, Dina, and Valentyna—who filled the air with the magic of Ukrainian songs. 🎶

❤️ As with every Ukrainian event around the world, ours had a vital charitable purpose. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and guests during the exhibition, we purchased 125,000 water purification tablets. This generates over 1.1 million liters of clean drinking water — enough to sustain more than 3,000 Ukrainian families of four for an entire month. We honestly thank every donor in Brighton — every single pound has been transformed into a life-saving shield. 🩹
